So you're a "certified" trainer. Are you any good?

The idea that once we "certify" someone, we are somehow guaranteeing that person's competency is a subtext that runs throughout the law enforcement profession. And it's not accurate.

How do your students see you? Put yourself in their place, and don't waste their time.

Training should be more of an exchange of ideas, and less of a lecture. What officers/students really like is more interactive training, and less "talking at them."

It's difficult to fit in all of the types of mandatory training Why, then, can't we combine different elements of the training that officers receive?
