maravilla and mexican mafia

I have read that and heard that the maravilla has split apart from the mexican mafia/surenos for not paying their drug taxes in the early 90"s.so la eme has decided to have greenlight on them. What did la eme do to those existing members of la eme who were affilaited with maravilla on the the streets? and aren't there still many eme members who are from maravilla?

In the early 1950s, the various Maravilla gangs formed a coalition in prison that was the beginnings of the Mexican Mafia prison gang. Many infamous members were recruited from Maravilla including Joe "Godfather" Morgan. However several early supporters were disillusioned quickly and began to resist subjugation by the EME. Several became members of the opposing Nuestra Famila when that gang was formed. The most vocal EME resisters refused to join either prison gang and called themselves "Los Maravillosos." (Like the Bulldogs in Northern Califas)

In 1992 Sana Ojeda called the local gangs together in Orange County and began the taxation. No one in LA or San Bernardino could believe that any self-respecting gang would allow itself to be taxed, but they did. So the other counties began the same policy. This was not universally accepted even by some of the EME members. So when Maravilla first resisted they were "green lighted," but today they are off the list. Only the very vocal Maravillosos are still on the list. There remains factions of the Mexican Mafia that tax in their area of control and others who will not. The taxation controversy extends also to the pisas (Mexican nationals) as well.

Mexican Mafia Book

Sergeant Valdemar,
Do you know where I might be able to obtain a copy of Mendoza's book? Also, that was a great article that you wrote.

You can obtain a copy of Mendoza's book, "Mundo," on CD through my friend Ken Whitley's Website www.convictsandcops.com. Lots of good information can also be gleaned from the book "The Mexican Mafia -The Story" written by another friend and former member of the original Mexican Mafia Task Force, Robert "Moco" Morrill. Two other friends have new books on the subject also. Tony Rafael's book "Mexican Mafia" was released on Amazon on the 4th of July this year, and look out for FOX News L.A. Investigative reporter Chris Blatchford's book "The Black Hand"  coming out late this year.
