Florida Agency Purchases Victory Motorcycles

The Plant City (Fla.) Police Department has purchased five Victory Commander motorcycles for their motor officers, relpacing existing Harley-Davidsons.
To help fund the purchase—the bikes cost upwards of $30,000 each—the city will auction four of its existing Harley-Davidson bikes. A fourth H-D will be added to a historical exhibit.
Officers said the Victorys make tighter turns and have the ground clearance to drive over curbs without damage. The motorcycles also come with tip over protection and the fixed floorboards reduce the possibility of an officer breaking or twisting a foot, ankle or knee in the event the bike goes down, reports the Tampa Tribune.
