A Miami-Dade police officer shot and killed a man along an entrance ramp to I-95 during heavy rush hour traffic, after chasing him into shrubbery, deploying a TASER, and almost getting his finger bitten off.
The officer, a nine-year veteran whose name wasn't released, was at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center having his finger reattached Monday morning.
The dead man, 31, whose name also wasn't released because his family hadn’t been notified, remained in the shrubs near the entrance to the highway Monday morning as detectives determined how many times he was shot and whether he was struck by the TASER.
The incident, which took place shortly after 5 a.m. at the Northwest 119th Street southbound entrance to the highway, snarled all the way north to the Broward County line as the southbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours, the Miami Herald reports.
