U.C. Berkeley Chancellor Knew of Baton Use at Occupy Protest

E-mail revealing that the University of California, Berkeley, chancellor was aware batons were being used to remove Occupy protesters has come to light as a campus Police Review board seeks to determine who authorized the decision.
U.C. Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau was informed batons were being used to forcibly remove student Occupy protestors, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Students and faculty members have criticized officers, calling the force excessive.
The review board is investigating the Nov. 9 protest. In two open letters to the campus community, Birgeneau told faculty he had prohibited police from using tear gas or pepper spray, but didn't acknowledge that he knew police used batons.
The e-mail prompted the Faculty Senate to pass four resolutions disapproving of Birgeneau's handling of the protest at its November meeting.

Ahh Academia! Pity the poor campus cops for they work for the most self serving disinformation (liars) in the world. In NY each SUNY college president is the boss with no overall chief of police. Each University PD is separate. Certainly don't want anything bad about their campus going home to mom and dad do we.

UC Berkeley (UCB) pulls back access and affordability to instate Californians. Chancellor Robert J Birgeneau displaces Californians qualified for public Cal. with a $50,600 payment from born abroad foreign and out of state affluent students. And, foreign and out of state tuition is subsidized in the guise of diversity while instate tuition/fees are doubled.
UCB is not increasing enrollment. Birgeneau accepts $50,600 foreign students and displaces qualified instate Californians (When depreciation of Calif. funded assets are included (as they should be), out of state and foreign tuition is more than $100,000 + and does NOT subsidize instate tuition).
