An off-duty NYPD sergeant busted for drunken driving on Sunday resisted arrest, injuring a fellow cop as he hauled the blotto lawman off to jail, reports the New York Daily News.
Sgt. Kwando Karikari-Awere, 38, plowed his 1995 Nissan Maxima into a parked car near the intersection of Morris Ave. and E. 150th St. in the Bronx about 8:40 p.m., police said. He then explained why.
"I have been drinking," the 13-year NYPD veteran slurred to a responding officer, the court records show. "I am drunk."
