Plainclothes Sergeant Shoots Con Artist In Times Square

A plainclothes NYPD sergeant fatally shot a 25-year-old man outside of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square after confronting the man, who he believed was involved in a fraud scheme to intimidate tourists into buying CDs, the New York Times reports.
The man, who had opened fire on the officer first with a Mac-10 semiautomatic pistol, was not identified, but authorities said he was wanted on assault and disorderly conduct charges.
