Former NY Cop's Second Career: Robbing Banks
A former New York police officer pleaded guilty to robbing the Sovereign Bank branch in the East Village twice in 2007, with the help of his companion, who was a teller there, the New York Times reports.
The former officer, Christian Torres, 23, of Queens, was arrested in April 2008 after robbing another Sovereign Bank branch, near Reading, Pa. In May, he was sentenced to a 10-year prison term.
