One man has been charged and a second is being sought in Delaware in connection with the fatal shooting of one police officer last night and the wounding of another, the Inquirer reports.
Patrolman Chad Spicer died at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, and Cpl. Shawn Brittingham was in stable condition with a neck wound, according to Cpl. Bruce Harris, a spokesman for Delaware State Police.
The shooting occurred at the end of a vehicle pursuit. As the suspects got out and began to run, a single shot was fired, striking Brittingam, who was getting out of the patrol car, and killing Spicer before he could get out of the cruiser.
