Oakland Taps Long Beach Chief to Lead Department

Long Beach police Chief Anthony Batts will take over the Oakland Police Department in September, the MercuryNews.com reports.
Batts has been a member of the Long Beach Police Department for more than 25 years and became chief in that city in October 2002. Wayne Tucker resigned as Oakland's chief on Feb. 28.
A Long Beach police public information officer confirmed Batts' departure to Police Magazine.
