Jersey City Officer To Be Taken Off Life Support, Organs Harvested

The most seriously wounded of the five Jersey City police officers injured in last week's shootout will not survive and his organs will be donated, officials said yesterday as colleagues, family members, and friends said final goodbyes to 37-year-old Marc DiNardo.

"It is now a stark reality that the miracle we were so badly seeking will not come to pass. Detective Marc DiNardo's condition has deteriorated and his demise is imminent," Police Chief Tom Comey said at an afternoon press conference held at the Jersey City Medical Center, where DiNardo, a 10-year member of the force, has been kept alive by machines.
