The Rise of Muslim Gangs

In 2001 large numbers of Somali immigrants began migrating to Maine bringing their clan rivalries and their love of khat with them. Since then these Somali rival gangs, or "clans" as they prefer, have taken root in such far flung U.S. cities as; Lewiston (Maine), Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Kansas City and Garden City (Kansas), and San Diego.

These supposed “non-gang” gang supporters are too often shown leniency by the prosecutors and courts. They have as much culpability for the acts of the gang members they support as the actual drug dealing murderers. When interviewed by sociologists, gang members commonly lie. They do this for several reasons including: to appear less criminally culpable, because the academic interviewer has little ability to verify and check the facts so it’s fun to BS them, and because discussing gang business with people outside the gang is prohibited. Consequently, a lot of academic gang member interviews are full of inaccurate information.
Ronald "Slow" Slocum is taken into custody by a federal anti-gang task force. He was indicted under the RICO statute.

One at a time each of the three targets got out of the vehicle, walked in a big circle around the McDonald’s, went inside, only to return to the vehicle with a small drink. Then the next target did the exact same thing. Finally the third did the same. In tactical police terminology this is a clue that they were casing the McDonalds before robbing it.

An expert should be a credible proponent of the truth, and not an advocate for either the prosecution or the defense. Because of what we do and our knowledge of gangs, 95 percent of the time this will benefit the prosecution, but on occasion our knowledge and experience might benefit the defense.

The courageous women were individually shown the ELA mug books and they each identified El Hoyo (The Hole) Maravilla gang members Vincent and Luis Arias as the men who robbed the bank. Although both brothers were admitted gang members, they chose to dress more like hip college students rather than the typical Hispanic “Cholos” of El Hoyo.
